Brandon & Monica Salinas 05/26

My goodness, I cannot believe WE were chosen for Spotlight Athlete’s. Like everything else it feels aMAZEn!  I am so overcome with emotion that I have no idea where to start or how to make it through my testimony without being a blubbering mess… here it goes.
My childhood background is not exciting so I will make it short and sweet. I grew up on the border in Del Rio, I was a cheerleader and played basketball. Working out was NEVER my thing and if I worked out it was for a whopping 20 min. and then I would be set for the week  but then a little thing called “life” happened. We got married in 2008 and then in 2011 we had our first son, Caleb. I gained the normal amount of weight and of course it took a while to come off but it was never anything I couldn’t handle. Fast forward to August of last year when I had our second son, Cody. On top of having a second child to balance with work, life and raging emotions, I turned 30. Surprisingly everything was working out perfect. It was a great balance with the kids because the boys are 3 years apart, having family help and having a supportive husband was the picture perfect situation. Only problem was, I was falling apart. My emotions were a mess and I would HATE to even think about walking into my closet. The fear was paralyzing. I had 2 pair of “jeggings” (ladies you feel me on this one  ) that I would wear and a few shirts, that’s it. Some days I would just cry. Everyone would try to remind me “you just had a baby”, “you look great” and all I heard was blah blah blah. I tried working out at home but then 20min later I would just want to cry and give up. Then came October. I realize now that I joined boot camp only 2 months after having Cody, seems crazy to think about it now but it was GOD sent. I picked Caleb up from daycare and didn’t think twice about pulling into the parking lot. I know if I had thought too much about it I would have talked myself right out of it and I needed this to be MY decision NOT my husband or someone else’s. Tracie was my greeter  she was so kind and NOT once did she make me feel like I was being pushed into a “cult” or “death” for that matter lol I left there signed up and ready to see what the future held. For the longest time I didn’t tell anyone I had joined, mainly because if I decided to quit then I didn’t have to feel like a failure because no one even knew I was going. Well, I didn’t quit and 7 months later I am Spotlight Athlete with my husband, ALL of my shorts fit and I actually wear then in public. This is HUGE and I know that NONE of it was possible without the man upstairs! Thank you to all the wonderful and beautiful ladies who have made me feel welcome. Katie, Barefoot, Angie, Jordan, Kelli, Carla (just to name a few)  and to ALL the coaches who push me to do my best…….. My cup truly runneth over!

As I sit here thinking about my testimony, I can’t believe how awesome it is to be selected along with my wife as spotlight athlete's. The man upstairs has blessed my wife and me with an incredible journey. 5 years ago, we took a leap of faith that took two years to make the decision to go out on our own and start a concrete construction company. It was one tough decision but it has been the biggest blessing in our lives alongside the birth of our two boys. We have put our heart and soul into our business but with that we forgot about ourselves and our health. As you read from my wife’s testimony, she had a very hard time dealing with postpartum after the birth of our second son and when she found aMAZEn, the results in her emotional state of mind were amazing after just a few short weeks. I on the other hand was working out in a room in our house a few months before she had joined but every day for two weeks straight all I heard about was how much fun she was having at Boot Camp and keep in mind that my wife had not worked out in a gym since grade school so I knew this had to be something worth entertaining! Not only was she talking about the workouts but every evening she would talk to me about a lady named Channel and her husband Tommy dealing with an up and down battle with cancer and all I thought about was how could this happen to a couple who seems to have such an impact on people. But we don’t have an answer for a lot of things HE does we just know that He doesn't ever give us anything WE CANT HANDLE. So one Sunday I decided to come take a class with her and see what all the fuss was about. I was in awe but not because of the workout but the FAMILY! So that Monday I joined. I have dealt with a lot of ups and downs on handling my overwhelming stress, weight, and all around wellbeing of health. Since I have joined this gym that I consider a group of people who care about each other, pray for each other, push each other and pull for each other, my life has changed in ways that I cannot describe. The coaches are absolutely amazing and the backbone of the aMAZEn Boot Camp, Channel and Tommy, are hands down the greatest thing I have been a part of. I thank the lord that I am able to be a part of this community and thank all the members and coaches for making this an enjoyable life changing experience for my wife and I. God Bless everyone and Prayers for Channel and Tommy that you kick this battle in the butt! Brandon

I'm so EXCITED to honor you both tomorrow!! I am continually encouraged and inspired by testimonies of those willing to step out in faith and have their lives transformed by doing so. So much blessing follows obedience. It takes a lot of courage and both of you have shown that!! Continued blessings to both of you and your precious boys!! 😘
